Gary Gillen has lived in Fort Bend County for most of his life. A graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School, he attended Wharton County Junior College and Texas A&M.

He and his wife, Janice, own and operate Gillen Pest Control located in Richmond. The business was started by Gary's father, Jimmie, in 1963 and Gary and Janice have grown it into the largest pest control company in West Fort Bend County.

Gary has been very active in community organizations in the Fort Bend County area. A former City Councilman with the City of Rosenberg, Gary moved back to Richmond in 1999 where he has served his city as Chair of the Richmond Historic District Commission, member of the Building Code Committee and Richmond Economic Development Corporation. He is the first person in history to have served on both Rosenberg City Council and the Richmond City Commission.

Gary worked for George W. Bush during both Governors' races, served on the Governor Bush Committee and the George W. Bush Presidential Exploratory Committee. He traveled the country during both of George W. Bush's Presidential races, leading teams at various time to Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana.

Gary has been appointed to serve on several governmental boards, onf of which is the Good Neighbor Environmental Board, which studies infrastructure and environmental issues on the US/Mexico border and reports to the President and Congress. Twice appointed to two-year terms by the George W. Bush Administration, he was appointed to his third term by the Obama Administration.

Gary and Janice, have two daughters, Nichole and Jennifer.
